The gear I need to take better photos

Once in a while actually now it seems like once a day I get an email from Apple advertising their products. They do it in kind of a cool way but I really got a kick out of this last one. The title was “the gear I needed to take better photos.” Since I like taking photos with my little digital camera this peaked my interest so I loaded the images. The first suggestion by this ad was to advance my photography in big bold letters with a Macbook for $1099 Step 1: Start with a few upgrades the upgrades listed was the Cannon digital Rebel XT- $799.95 (the thing looks big to me) I tend to like slim cameras. Next up was Aperture at $299 Step 2: Find the perfect composition: One pixel perfect 23″ Apple Cinema Display would suffice for $999 and 1 Cannon EF 75-300 telephoto zoom lens at $249.95. Step 3 is to shoot, shoot and shoot some more with a Hitachi 4GB Microdrive for $149.95 and a Lacie d2 300GB hard drive extreme for $219.95. The grand total is $3816.80. WOW I do admit that you get a lot for your $ but I most certainly don’t have this kind of money to spend just to take better photos. This is for the photo pros among us which I am not. My 4 megapixel Casio Exilim while a bit on the old side now does a pretty decent job for posting stuff on the web which is where most of my photos end up anyway. I do know someone who would love all this equipment and has a wife who likes to shower him with gadgets for Christmas. Perhaps I’ll forward this one to him.
