More Mac Apps

Img12 Shiiraicon-1PicturesqueThis week I downloaded two apps that I found to be very helpful. The first is Shiira 2.0 an open source browser based on the same Webkit that powers Safari. There are plenty of features in this release but what I’m enjoying the most is the Tab Exposé feature. I’m also finding it faster than Safari. The page transition effects is also cool. I also like that you can turn private browsing on and it stays on w/out you having to turn it on all the time. Next up is Picturesque by Aqualia Picturesque is an app with which you can make beautiful images for the web by adding effects like: reflections, curved corners, borders, glows, shadows… Its fairly straightforward and easy to use as well as fast. You just drag and drop and play until you get what you want. The only thing I don’t like about the app is that it will out you $20. Its a neat app though. You can try it but saving images add a watermark (not so nice). There are other ways you can save said images of course :-)

Five or So Miles

Thepath-2A lone stranger upon a path, I pant as I climb the last hill
I am blinded by the sun in the distance as it gleams warmly upon my face
I welcome the warmth remembering it was only yesterday when the clouds stole the sun
The small waterfalls are full today, the path a bit drier than the last time I came this way
The sun fades behind the tall branches without leaves yet the light is now hidden as I turn
my face towards another path, I’m almost finished with this stretch but yet I have a long road ahead
Its so peaceful here, just me and the trees without leaves and the trickle of small waterfalls
as they make their way around this landscape of hills with leaves left from the last season
I head downhill and the trees fade, the city is in view I’m back to the hustle and bustle of cars
my mind still clinging to the warmth of the sun upon my face as it greeted me with a smile upon the
path…

Happy Easter

Johnchris
Just thought I would post something my Pastor sent us today. Its a famous Easter sermon of John Chrysostom.
Are there any who are devout lovers of God?
Let them enjoy this beautiful bright festival!

Are there any who are grateful servants?
Let them rejoice and enter into the joy of their Lord!

Are there any weary with fasting?
Let them now receive their wages!

If any have toiled from the first hour,
let them receive their due reward;
If any have come after the third hour,
let him with gratitude join in the Feast!
And he that arrived after the sixth hour,
let him not doubt; for he too shall sustain no loss.
And if any delayed until the ninth hour,
let him not hesitate; but let him come too.
And he who arrived only at the eleventh hour,
let him not be afraid by reason of his delay.
For the Lord is gracious and receives the last even as the first.
He gives rest to him that comes at the eleventh hour,
as well as to him that toiled from the first.

To this one He gives, and upon another He bestows.
He accepts the works as He greets the endeavor.
The deed He honors and the intention He commends.
Let us all enter into the joy of the Lord!

First and last alike receive your reward;
rich and poor, rejoice together!
Sober and slothful, celebrate the day!
You that have kept the fast, and you that have not,
rejoice today for the Table is richly laden!

Feast royally on it, the calf is a fatted one.
Let no one go away hungry. Partake, all, of the cup of faith.
Enjoy all the riches of His goodness!

Let no one grieve at his poverty,
for the universal kingdom has been revealed.

Let no one mourn that he has fallen again and again;
for forgiveness has risen from the grave.

Let no one fear death, for the Death of our Savior has set us free.
He has destroyed it by enduring it.
He destroyed Hell when He descended into it.
He put it into an uproar even as it tasted of His flesh.

Isaiah foretold this when he said,
“You, O Hell, have been troubled by encountering Him below.”
Hell was in an uproar because it was done away with.
It was in an uproar because it is mocked.
It was in an uproar, for it is destroyed.
It is in an uproar, for it is annihilated.
It is in an uproar, for it is now made captive.

Hell grasped a corpose, and discovered God.
It seized earth, and encountered Heaven.
It took what it saw, and was overcome by what it could not see.

O death, where is thy sting?
O Hell, where is thy victory?

Christ is Risen, and you, o death, are cast down!
Christ is Risen, and the evil ones are fallen!
Christ is Risen, and the angels rejoice!
Christ is Risen, and life is liberated!

Christ is Risen, and the tomb is emptied of its dead;
for Christ having risen from the dead,
is become the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep.

To Him be Glory and Power forever and ever. Amen!

Some Competition for the iPhone Already?

Lgprada-3I was just checking out the skinny on the interface for the LG Prada Phone. It has the whole touch-screen thing going as the iPhone but seriously after taking a closer look at the interface, I was thinking where the heck are the colors? I was seeing a lot of black and white on it. I like the way that you can drag the clock around and the calendar interface is cool. However, the icons and are not as big and colorful as the iPhone’s, you can change themes and what not but seriously it just seems that things are more complicated to get to and seemed a bit cumbersome to use. It was almost like using my current cell phone except that I was touching the screen. In addition you don’t get to use the whole screen just a part of it. Some people are claiming that the phone is similar to the iPod but really the LG Prada phone looks like a first attempt at a knock-off. The icons just looked very retro video-gamish to me. Reminds me of the Pac man game to some degree. Nice try LG :-) BTW what’s with the name? Won’t Prada be suing for trademark infringement on the name? I think of clothes, handbags and shoes when I think Prada not cell phones.
