View from My Window

sun_main.jpg The other day I was at work looking out of my window and the sun that was shining moments before became covered with ominous dark clouds. This happens quite often around here but that day I felt inspired to jot down my thoughts which I ended up composing on my iPhone. Here it is below. Enjoy!

Someone stole the sun today
not much light left in the sky
Dark clouds are moving across the firmaments blocking out the warmth
Bringing rain and snow upon the flats of space
The sun is no more but is hidden from our eyes
But there is hope as a glint of light plays on the surface of the tree tops
and part the dark clouds for a moment reminding us that there is life here
there is still warmth left in the sun and hope as the dark clouds move on…

Would you trust this face?

gibbons22.jpg I was browsing around the web and came across this piece by Jon Fortt over at the Fortune Tech site in which Tom Gibbons, head of Microsoft’s Specialized Devices & Applications Group, admitted that a team of Microsoft Engineers has been getting comfortable with the iPhone SDK. he mentioend that the focus would be extending Office Functions onto the iPhone and iPod touch. So he’s mainly talking software development no surprise there. However, I’m wondering how long it will take Microsoft to produce their own iPhone/Touch like device. After all they have Surface which is basically like an iPhone in table form. Now that they have the SDK what’s to stop them from getting out the copy machines and start copying features to put in the next generation of their Windows Mobile Software and hardware. I think its inevitable lets see if they do a better job this time than they did with the Zune and Vista. BTW the Surface idea is really cool they just need Steve Jobs to refine it, miniaturize it and market it… Oh Steve already did that with the iPhone my fault ;-).

The iPhone SDK Roadmap

sdk_thang.gif

On Thursday Apple unveiled the iPhone SDK roadmap. Since I had some time to kill after a hard days work I checked out the video to see what it was all about. I was honestly excited about this but have to admit that I skipped a little of the video when Scott Forstall started gabbing on about the four architectural layers of the iPhone OS. I found it interesting but I was crunching data all day so I was suffering from info overload already. I was excited about Cocos Touch though for some reason that jumped out at me. Anyway, I’m not a developer but was still excited about what Apple has already done. I kinda wish they had already set up the App Store and made some of those apps they mentioned available for free so we could test them out esp. Spore and Super Monkey Ball they just looked like a fun way to waste some time. I’m looking forward to all the apps that will be ported and somehow wish I could come up with a few myself but I’m not a coder at all maybe its time to learn huh!
