View from My Window

sun_main.jpg The other day I was at work looking out of my window and the sun that was shining moments before became covered with ominous dark clouds. This happens quite often around here but that day I felt inspired to jot down my thoughts which I ended up composing on my iPhone. Here it is below. Enjoy!

Someone stole the sun today
not much light left in the sky
Dark clouds are moving across the firmaments blocking out the warmth
Bringing rain and snow upon the flats of space
The sun is no more but is hidden from our eyes
But there is hope as a glint of light plays on the surface of the tree tops
and part the dark clouds for a moment reminding us that there is life here
there is still warmth left in the sun and hope as the dark clouds move on…

Waiting to go

waiting I’m sitting here wasting time
Not sure why or what I’m doing
Its warm outside so very nice the sky is blue today
It is so cold inside this place
Gust of cold air causing us all to freeze just a bit to remind us of
the coming winter perhaps, so cold why so cold when outside is so warm
I want to go outside to chase after the birds but I’m here waiting
Waiting to go
Horns blaring in the distance, tree branches swaying in the wind
A few poofy clouds hanging in the sky other than that blue skies
Its so beautiful outside we don’t often get these kinds of days here
My colleague sneezes the cold air again
We’re all here just sitting, working, waiting to go

Five or So Miles

Thepath-2A lone stranger upon a path, I pant as I climb the last hill
I am blinded by the sun in the distance as it gleams warmly upon my face
I welcome the warmth remembering it was only yesterday when the clouds stole the sun
The small waterfalls are full today, the path a bit drier than the last time I came this way
The sun fades behind the tall branches without leaves yet the light is now hidden as I turn
my face towards another path, I’m almost finished with this stretch but yet I have a long road ahead
Its so peaceful here, just me and the trees without leaves and the trickle of small waterfalls
as they make their way around this landscape of hills with leaves left from the last season
I head downhill and the trees fade, the city is in view I’m back to the hustle and bustle of cars
my mind still clinging to the warmth of the sun upon my face as it greeted me with a smile upon the
path…

A state of peace

Peace Wow I don’t know what it is with me these last few Sundays but its seems
that I’m getting inspired to pen poetry albeit during Church. Anyway here is another one that just came to me as I was sitting there during the worship hour.

Everyone is so happy
yet I don’t share their enthusiasm
I’m like one on the outside looking into a party to which I wasn’t invited
They scream they clap with such delight in their faces
But I sit here as one looking in
They wait expectantly for something I wonder what
Yet there is this intensity in this place I cannot shake
There is a presence here I cannot explain
As the songs repeat they begin to sway with the words
I take up my pen and I try to reflect on paper what I see before my eyes
A sweet melody is on the air, more happiness
I don’t feel so distant anymore
I realize that I’m invited to come in
into this state of joyful peace

A Poem for Today

Beach-1I jot this little poem down whilst in Church today. I was sitting there listening to this minister preach and something he said just struck a chord and I took up my bulletin and started to write. I haven’t written a poem in quite some time so the timing was most welcome as I enjoy writing poems in general. Anyway, here is what I wrote.

He came out of nowhere
walking down the road proud and tall like and olive shoot
There was something about him, something like an orb of light
shone from him
The way he walked was more like gliding than walking but the light
was the thing that I couldn’t get out of my mind
What was it? where did it come from? was it from him? around him?
what is this new thing?
As I got closer to him he stared in my direction, his eyes shown as one on fire
That light again it was in his eyes as well
It just seemed to radiate from his whole being
As he stood there in front of me I couldn’t help but speaking
so I asked him his name
He smiled and said you know who I am and called me by name
I wondered how he knew what my name was
I asked his name again he smiled and looked directly at me with those
burning eyes and says
I am TRUTHBEARER…
At that moment the light that shown from his eyes went out from him
next thing I now my hands were tingling
They started to radiate the same light that was in his eyes
it was then I realized that yes we have indeed already met I know him
he is and always will remain TRUTHBEARER

Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” John 14:6

A Cold Day

Golden sun on a blue sky
How nice finally we get some sun
But oh why so cold…
Why do my bones ache with the frost of winter?
I check the temperature gage and it’s barely 1 degree
I’ve draped myself in all the clothes that I could wear
Yet I’m still cold…
My bones still ache, so cold, so very cold
The sun is but a travesty on this frigid day
Luring us outside in the clutch of winter’s icy grip

The Breeze of Springtime

A warm breeze blows across my face laughter is in the distance… So many days with golden leaves playing in shades of pink hue amid deep grey skies. Burst of tulips are scattered across the lawns as if there was a tulip explosion. Is this spring or summer I cannot tell except for that faint cool breeze that keeps coming back just when you think winter is over… Sleep has escaped again for another night and alas I will depart and chase after that warm breeze of yesterday…
